1. Overview

Crèche

The MALC crèche is available to all customers and members of the MALC, caring for children 8 weeks to 5 years of age during the school term and up to 9 years old during the school holidays.

The MALC crèche provides a caring environment for children to enjoy themselves whilst their parents are making use of the facilities and programs offered within the centre. The crèche operates under the Children and Community Services Act 2004 and therefore it is a requirement that parents must remain within the centre at all times whilst their children are in the crèche.

4. Important information

First Visit

First time visitors to the crèche are required to complete a Crèche Enrolment Form(PDF, 482KB). This form is also available from crèche staff or reception. All information obtained is kept strictly confidential. If you have concerns about your child becoming distressed when you leave, please let us know as we may be able to suggest ways to assist your child to adjust to a new environment.

On Arrival

Visitors to the crèche are required to go to reception upon arrival. Your crèche visit pass card will be scanned and a ticket will be issued to you for entry into the crèche. Once arriving in the creche, the creche ticket is to be handed to staff and each child must be signed in on the attendance register and signed out on departure.

Pick Up

Children can only be collected by the parent who signs them in unless prior arrangements have been made with staff.

What to Bring

  • Please pack something healthy to eat & drink (please note we are a nut free zone)
  • Please bring a pram if your child is under 2 years of age
  • Please ensure suitable clothing and footwear is worn and a change of clothes is packed if appropriate. Please label all belongings including drink bottles.

Head Lice

In cases of head lice, children are not permitted into the crèche until all eggs and lice (dead or alive) have been removed.

Accidents

Should an incident occur whilst your child is in the crèche, a report will be completed by staff. Parents are asked to countersign the form to confirm they have been notified.

Illness

To protect your child/ren, other children and staff, please keep your child at home if they display any symptoms of illness, such as:

  • High temperature
  • Diarrhoea or vomitting in the last 24 hours
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Rash
  • Cold or flu symptoms

If your child is too sick to go to school, they are too sick to attend crèche. If your child has suffered from a communicable disease, a doctor’s clearance is required before they can return to the crèche.

Distress

Should your child become distressed while in the crèche all attempts will be made to settle them, however you may be requested to attend to your child.

Emergency

In the event of an emergency, staff will evacuate children to the nearest muster point. Parents are asked not to re-enter the crèche and are to collect their child/ren directly from the muster point.
