Located at 16 Camp Road in Pinjarra, Western Australia, the MALC (the Murray Aquatic & Leisure Centre) first opened in 1996.
The Murray Districts Community Recreation Centre (MDCRC) opened on the 12th of October 1996. The MDCRC consisted of 2 new timber sports courts, gym and group fitness studio, kiosk & administration area, and creche, which was added to the original lower court and Performance Arts Workshop (PAW) and lower lobby. The PAW and the renamed court 3 continued to be utilised by the Pinjarra Senior High School on school days, and then available at other times with the remainder of the facility for community sport and recreation use. On the 20th April 2011, the aquatic facilities were officially opened at the centre, making it a full service community recreation facility. With the addition of the swimming pools, the Murray Districts Community Recreation Centre was renamed as the Murray Leisure Centre. Then in 2018, the centre was re-branded to the Murray Aquatic & Leisure Centre (the MALC) to increase the promotion of and draw focus to the great aquatic facilities available to the community.
The centre is nowadays more commonly referred to as the MALC. In July 2020, the centre launched the MALC 24/7 Gym extending the operations of the gym into 24 hours a day 7 days a week operation.
The MALC has a wide range of facilities and offers an extensive range of sport, recreation and leisure programs to the general public, schools, clubs and organisations within the Shire of Murray.
