What is "On Demand"?
Our virtual fitness classes are offered on the group fitness timetable at prescheduled times, or members can select a class on demand. On demand allows the members to select a class from the list of available classes, at a time and length they desire. On demand is only available when a class isn’t already operating in the virtual studio.
Do I have to book into a class?
We ask that all members book in for all virtual classes when the Centre is open, either for prescheduled classes (listed on the timetable) and for “on demand” times. Members can register for a class either online through the members portal or at reception.
If you are choosing to undertake a class outside of normal Centre hours (i.e. when 24/7 operations are engaged), there is no requirement for members to register for classes.
What should I bring with me to a class?
A gym towel, drink bottle, and plenty of energy.
What to expect in the Virtual Group Fitness Studio?
If it’s your first visit, we recommend a brief virtual induction and watching the class-specific tutorials on the Virtual IPAD to ensure safe and effective participation.
Before your class:
- Familiarise yourself with air conditioning (recommended at 18°C), fan controls, lighting (low lighting improves screen visibility), emergency exits, and duress alert locations.
- Set up any required equipment based on the class you're attending*.
After your class
- Wipe down all of your equipment and return to designated storage areas
*Important information on cycle setup, equipment use, and emergency procedures are displayed on the studio noticeboard. For your safety and best experience, please take a moment to review these details before starting your session.
Can I participate in a virtual class if I have never tried a live class?
Yes, you can participate in a virtual class if you have never participated in a live class. In fact, virtual classes can be an easy introduction to live classes.
If you have never participated in BODY PUMP or CORE before, it is recommended that you watch the instructional videos available on the virtual Ipad screen under each class discipline.
A virtual instructor will provide all the direction you need to participate in the session.
What equipment is needed to participate?
All the equipment required in the classes is located at the side of the Virtual Fitness Studio or in the cupboard outside the studio door. Please remember to wipe down any equipment after use to leave them clean for the next user.
The classes below require the following equipment:
BODY PUMP - Les Mills Bar, assorted weight plates, Les Mills step, 4x risers and a mat.
CORE 30 - Les Mills band or resistance tube, assorted weight plates and a mat.
BODY BALANCE - A mat.
BODY COMBAT - No equipment needed.
RPM - Bike.
The length of time is optional.
What are the Safety and Emergency Procedures?
The group fitness studio is equipped CCTV and duress alerts for security and peace of mind. If you need urgent assistance while using the virtual studio
During Centre opening hours – press the “Staffed Hours Reception Contact” button located near the rear of the room between the mirrors. This duress button will notify our reception staff of your need for assistance.
During 24/7 operation - press the “After Hours Security Contact” duress button located near the front of the room before the mirrors. This duress button will notify our out of hours security control room of your need for assistance.
In the event of a Centre-wide evacuation, members will be advised to proceed calmly to the nearest exit and will receive further instructions.
If you begin to feel unwell during a workout, please stop immediately and notify a staff member.
Can I join a class if someone else in there?
Yes, members are able to join in with other members virtual class, however you shouldn’t join in if the class has been going for more than 5 minutes (you can see the class play time on the Virtual IPAD), and only if there is sufficient room in the class (usually 3-5 on the floor maximum). If you are joining another members session, please be respectful of other member(s), so as not to disrupt their workout.
Can I come into a class once it has started?
For your safety and to respect other participants, we recommend arriving at least five minutes before the class begins. This allows time to set up, review pre-class safety information, and complete the warm-up.
Late entry is strongly discouraged as it may disrupt the class and compromise your ability to safely participate.
Can I adjust the fans or the air conditioning during a virtual class?
Yes, you may adjust the air conditioning and fans during your virtual class. Operating instructions are clearly displayed within the studio. Please be considerate of others when making adjustments, and ensure all equipment is turned off after your session.
Can I offer virtual class feedback?
We welcome feedback about virtual classes on our timetable. Please speak to a staff member or complete a feedback form.
Do I need to do anything after the workout?
Please put away any equipment you have used and clean your workout station. Please leave the studio promptly as another class may be starting directly after the class you've participated in.
What age groups can access virtual classes?

Please note: Body Pump classes are restricted to individuals aged 16 years and over.
What do I do if a virtual class doesn't start?
